Reducing household water-treatment costs
Expert365 helps communities reduce the recurring cost and effort associated with boiling drinking water by providing monitored, centrally disinfected water.
The challenge
Where drinking water must be boiled at household level, families may carry recurring fuel costs and spend time collecting fuel, preparing water and managing treatment. These costs can place greater pressure on lower-income households.
What HECTOR does
Central water disinfection
HECTOR disinfects community drinking-water storage through controlled treatment, reducing reliance on household boiling.
Digital monitoring
IoT monitoring records water delivery, operational performance, location and time-based evidence.
Household savings pathway
Reduced fuel demand and boiling effort can return money and time to participating households.
What we measure
Current impact
Live SDG 1 indicators retrieved from the Expert365 API for each VPA.
Values come from SDGDATA in the approved Expert365 API response. Indicator units and methodology should be confirmed with Expert365 before publication.
Evidence and reporting
Evidence may include timestamped water-volume records, household counts, site and device records, monitoring dates, approved fuel assumptions and the calculation method used by the Expert365 platform. Financial values must remain clearly identified as calculated indicators rather than independently verified household income.
